Of all the procedures required for admission to a Spanish university, the equivalency process is the only one that is required by all. It involves making an equivalence of qualifications between different educational systems, specifically between the country where the student has completed their high school or secondary education and the Spanish system. In this way, the student obtains the equivalent of a Spanish pre-university degree, allowing them to apply for admission to university faculties.

In general, the recognition of a high school diploma or secondary education should be completed before October of the year in which the student plans to enter university.
