The FSE tests are selective tests to access the Specialized Health Training (FSE) places. The annual call for the FSE tests is published in the Official State Gazette (BOE) and is open to people who have studied medicine, pharmacy, chemistry, biology, biochemistry, psychology, physics and nursing.
This system is an apprenticeship centered on the professional, in which a programmed, supervised and paid clinical practice makes it possible to progressively assume responsibilities as the training process progresses. This is achieved through a link between the Health Service and the professional in training. The duration of the specialized training in health will depend on the specialty that is chosen from the degree or degree completed, as well as the duration of the programs of each specialty.
Structure of the FSE tests and calculation of marks
The number of questions on the FSE tests may vary annually as decreed by the Ministry of Health. Tests generally have a large number of questions: around 200, with 4 multiple-choice answers each and only 1 correct answer.
In these tests, each correct answer grants 3 points and each incorrect one subtracts 1 point. To be eligible for a place, participants must have obtained at least 25% of the top ten scores. This means that the minimum grade required has decreased from 35% to 25%. This measure has been implemented by the Department of Health to prevent unfilled places. If the cutoff score is not reached, it will be marked in the results as «Deleted».
